The first inter-school Sepaktakraw tournament, organised by Wokha District Sepaktakraw Association (WDSA- Sepak), culminated today at Local Ground Wokha, with K. Libemo Jami, youth resources & sports officer & DSO In-charge, Wokha as the guest of honour.
Handing over the certificates and running trophy to the winners, K. Libemo Jami advised players to continue in giving extra effort stating that champion are those who run an extra mile.
He also highlighted the importance of sports and shared the advantages in getting attached in the field of sports.
He said sports field in Nagaland has wider scope not only for players but students can take up professional trainer courses, nutrition athlete diet, physical education, health education and sports sciences etc.
He encouraged players from the district to give their best effort and build consistency in their respective field of sport so that they will one day represent the district, state and even at the national level.
Acknowledging the WDSA-Sepak, he said that the organization is very new but it has a dream and zeal in excelling, where he also called upon the organization to be consistent.
He further assured the organizer that through the department they will make an arrangement for the association in sending them for proper training and coaching at Dimapur, Nagaland.
Altogether, 16 teams from five schools in the category of under 14, 17 for men and senior girls are vying for the tournament.
In a short closing ceremony, Chibenthung Kikon, joint secretary, WDSA chaired the programme, T. Zuchanthung Ezung delivered the vote of thanks, while Eliza Kithan, chaplain, Mt. Sinai School, Wokha pronounced the benediction.
Winners:
Under 14 Boys: Mount Carmel School Wokha were the champions and SMBH School baged the runners-up.
Under 17 Boys: Mount Carmel School Wokha were the champions and Mount Sinai School bagged the runners-up.
Senior Girls: Mount Carmel School Wokha were the champions and Mount Sinai School bagged the runners-up.
