Nagaland: Funeral service of Late G.K. Rengma, Retd. ADGP today

DIMAPUR

The funeral service of Late G.K. Rengma, Retd. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) one of the distinguished Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from the Rengma tribe will be held on December 19, 2025, at 8:00 am at his private residence near Golden Jubilee Tower, Thahekhu Village.
Following the funeral service, the mortal remains will be taken to his native village Phenshünyu for burial.
Late G.K. Rengma was born on January 12, 1950. He began his early schooling at Tseminyu, pursued his high school and college education in Shillong, and went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Social Work from Delhi University.
He joined government service as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) on September 12, 1974 and was inducted into the Indian Police Service (IPS) on January 18, 1989. In recognition of his exemplary service and leadership, he was promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) on September 8, 2008, and he retired on January 31, 2010 upon attaining superannuation.
Late G.K. Rengma is remembered for his discipline and distinguished service. His pioneering journey in the civil services inspired generations of youth from the community to pursue excellence. His passing is a great loss not only to his family but also to the Rengma community and the wider society.
The bereaved family deeply appreciates the prayers, condolences, and support extended during this time of grief.
