The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has condemned in the strongest terms the harassment, intimidation and attacks on Christians in various parts of India during the Christmas celebrations of 2025.
GNF said acts such as disruption of church services, vandalism of Christmas decorations and threats to peaceful celebrants, many of them women and children, were a direct assault on the spirit of Christmas and the conscience of the nation. It said these actions, reportedly carried out by extremist elements linked to the RSS and Bajrang Dal, were shameful and unacceptable.
The forum said such conduct was a clear violation of Article 25 of the Constitution of India, which guarantees freedom of conscience and the right to freely profess, practise and propagate religion. It added that the incidents also undermined the foundational values of equality, fraternity and secularism enshrined in the Constitution.
GNF said targeting Christians during their most sacred festival was not an act of patriotism but an act of intolerance, and warned that allowing such intimidation to go unchecked risks normalising fear and eroding constitutional freedoms.
The forum expressed solidarity with the Christian community and called upon the Government of India and concerned state authorities to act decisively, hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure that no citizen is denied the right to celebrate their faith in peace.
