Nagaland governor La Ganesan acknowledged the challenging terrain of road connectivity in the state and assured good road connectivity in the bode areas.
The governor made this assurance during his visit to Noklak on November 16. He also lauded the progress in road construction executed by PWD and NHIDCL.
Ganesan highlighted that Noklak which was established as a district on December 21, 2017, was still in its developmental phase. However, he expressed optimism about the district’s progress and its potential to match with other districts in infrastructure and growth.
On the health and wellness, the governor stressed on the importance of healthcare for the district’s future, and encouraged the implementation of health schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan MantriBimaYojana, and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme. He also highlighted the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, aiming for TB eradication by 2025, and urged awareness and action from the District Health Authority.
Underlining the role of education in societal progress, he called for renewed commitment from educators, parents, and social leaders, and emphasized that every child should have access to education.
On the pressing issue of drug abuse, particularly among youths as a major societal challenge, he urged the civil societies and law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to check drug inflow, especially in border areas like Noklak.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local communities, civil societies, and the government to address challenges and create a sustainable roadmap for the future.
The governor also held a security coordination meeting with the security personnel.
During the program, various departments of Noklak namely, Chief Medical Officer, Dub-Divisional Education Officer, Executive Engineer, PWD (R & B), Sub Divisional Officer, (PHED) and District Agriculture Officer presented PowerPoint.
Representatives from Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam and Khiamniungan Student’s Union also spoke at the program. Earlier, the welcome address was spoken by Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Arikumba.
