Nagaland Gov felicitated toppers & award recipients

KOHIMA, JUN 17 (NPN): Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Wednesday felicitated toppers, rank holders and recipients of various Governor’s Awards in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2026 during a programme held at Lok Bhavan, Kohima.
According to a Lok Bhavan statement, the governor, while speaking at the programme, congratulated the award recipients for their outstanding academic achievements and commended their hard work, discipline, perseverance and commitment to excellence. He said their success reflected determination and dedication towards achieving their goals.
Yadav said the Governor’s Award for Meritorious Students was instituted not only to recognise achievement but also to celebrate academic excellence among the youth of Nagaland. He noted that the award honours hard work, discipline and dedication while reaffirming a commitment to nurturing talent, rewarding merit and inspiring future generations to contribute meaningfully to the progress of the state and the nation.
Describing the occasion as a celebration of both achievement and the effort behind it, the governor acknowledged the role of parents, teachers and educational institutions in shaping the success of the students. He said the accomplishments of the awardees reflected the guidance, sacrifices and encouragement provided by their families and mentors.
Emphasising the transformative role of education, Yadav encouraged students to uphold values such as integrity, humility and service as they pursue higher studies and future careers. He urged them to dream big, work hard and use their talents for the greater good of society.
Earlier, advisor for school education Kekhriehoulie Yhome felicitated the student achievers and underscored the importance of education, leadership and perseverance in building a developed Nagaland and contributing to the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”.
Congratulating the awardees, Yhome lauded their dedication and acknowledged the support of parents and teachers. Describing education as vital human capital for development, he also expressed concern over school dropout rates and encouraged students to remain humble and prepare themselves to become future leaders.
Secretary school education and chairman-in-charge of Nagaland Board of School Education, Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, said the Governor’s Awards have played an important role in promoting academic excellence in Nagaland by recognising outstanding students. He informed that 63 achievers across various categories were being honoured this year and thanked the governor for his continued support to education.
Delivering an inspirational address, Furhesie Nyuwi shared his journey to becoming an NCS officer and encouraged students to believe in themselves, work hard and dream beyond their circumstances. He urged the awardees to pursue excellence with integrity, remain humble and strive to become worthy ambassadors of Nagaland.
Earlier, the programme was compered by Vitsüsie Nagi. Prayer was offered by Khedi Baptist Church, Kohima Pastor Rev. Dr. Ruokuovilie Sachü, while special numbers were presented by GHSS Jotsoma Choir and Fernwood School, Kohima. Vote of thanks was proposed by commissioner & secretary, school education and SCERT, Kevileno Angami.
