Nagaland Government Teachers’ Association to hold 2-day pen down strike

DIMAPUR, FEB 23 (NPN):

Nagaland Government Teachers’ Association (NGTA)—erstwhile SSA and RMSA 2010 and 2013 batches comprising 2,293 members—on Monday announced a two-day pen down strike on February 24 and 25, 2026 following the Department of School Education (DoSE)’s failure to respond to its seven-day ultimatum to include their salary component in the state non-plan budget.
Through its media cell, NGTA stated that members were formally mainstreamed into the State Education Cadre vide order dated September 2, 2022 with effect from April 21, 2022, pursuant to Cabinet approval of the same date. However, the association expressed dismay that even after more than three years, their salaries continued to be drawn under CSS funding.
NGTA said several representations and appeals were submitted over the years for inclusion of their salary component in the state non-plan budget. As no concrete response was received, the association served a final seven-day ultimatum on February 16, 2026 to address their demand within the stipulated time, but nothing changed.
The association said the department’s lackadaisical approach compelled the two-day pen down. It warned that if the issue remained unresolved, it would launch peaceful democratic agitation from February 26, 2026 until the demand was met.
