Nagaland: Govt bodies, political parties celebrate pre-Christmas

Several government bodies, political organizations celebrated pre-Christmas ahead of the commencement of the winter holidays The National People’s Party of Nagaland State, NPF of Chozuba and ATI held their celebrations in the last few days.

NATIONAL PEOPLE’S PARTY

NPP Nagaland: National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State, celebrated Advent Christmas 2025 at the residence of state treasurer Simon Yepthomi on December 19, bringing together party leaders, workers and members in a spirit of fellowship and joy.
In a press statement, Media & IPR Cell of NPP Nagaland State, informed that addressing the gathering, A. Nyamnyei Konyak, MLA and State president of NPP Nagaland, extended Christmas greetings to all. He underscored the values of peace, unity, humility, forgiveness and service exemplified through the birth of Jesus Christ, urging party members to embody Christ-like character in both personal and public life. He emphasized that despite human weaknesses, forgiveness and reconciliation must prevail, and leaders should be distinguished by integrity, humility and service to society.
Delivering a special address on the significance of Christmas, K. James Vizo, chief spokesperson and vice president, NPP Nagaland, reflected on the message of hope and sacrificial love embodied in the season. Citing Isaiah 9:6 and Galatians 4:4, he affirmed God’s faithfulness and urged party workers to seek spiritual rebirth beyond outward celebration, drawing attention to Christ’s humility in being born in a manger.
The message of the day was delivered by Imnatoshi Longkumer, associate pastor, DABA, who spoke from Isaiah 9:2, reminding that “greater light brings greater responsibility.” He called upon party members to shine as examples of character and accountability within society and the organization.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Yabang Limchen, president of NPYF Nagaland State, with an invocation prayer led by Tsuktirenla Longkumer. The hymn Joy to the World was sung, followed by Scripture reading by Audrey Jamir, State President of NPWF Nagaland. A special Christmas song presented by Heli Wotsa enriched the spiritual atmosphere, and a mass prayer was offered for the State, the Nation and the people.
The celebration concluded with fellowship and a Christmas feast, marked by enthusiastic participation from leaders and members, reflecting unity and joy in the true spirit of Christmas.

NPF 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency (AC) on December 18 conducted a ‘Thanksgiving cum Advent Christmas’ programme at the private residence of MLA and Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, at Old Minister’s Hill, Kohima.
Addressing the event, Khamo asserted that the NPF is the oldest regional party in the Northeast region and expressed hope that the political merger of the NDPP with the NPF would strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Khamo highlighted that the divine plan is greater than human plans and asserted that the merger between the NDPP and NPF was aimed at strengthening the regional party, unifying the Naga people in the backdrop of the yearning for an early solution to the protracted Naga political issue, ensuring a stable government, and bringing development to the state.
He assured the party workers that with the blessings and mandate he received from the people of the constituency, he is working towards fulfilling their aspirations and called for cooperation to work for development and the empowerment of youth and the public.
Khamo called upon the people to dedicate the time between Christmas and New Year as Family Week for prayer and to strategise plans for the New Year and life, making judicious use of the holiday season.
He also maintained that the long-felt need of the people for a bank was addressed with the inauguration of a bank at Chetheba town, which has reduced expenditure to a great extent for people seeking banking services in other towns and places, while expressing optimism for better financial literacy and inclusion.
Highlighting “The Village Fair” held at Phusachodu village and the launching of ‘One Family, One Project; One Family, One Entrepreneur; and One Family, One Prayer Time’ under The Green Village Link (GVL), he emphasised the need to raise and empower the business and entrepreneurial community in society so that they would help the people.
Stressing the importance of prayer and the Bible as the foundation of society, party and government, he implored the people to dedicate any time of the day for prayer time and make it a community-led movement.
Meanwhile, Padma Shri Sano Vamuzo, President, Women Wing, NPF, extended greetings on the occasion and reminded the gathering that God created mankind in His own image with great purpose; however, mankind has fallen from the glory of God.
Expressing concern over the division of Naga society and factionalism, she stated that the people have not fully realised the liberation of mankind by God and urged them to work for unity among the Nagas. She added that people should not lose God-given values and traditions.
A message was delivered by Rev. Dr. Wepre Mero, pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers Hill, Kohima (CBCKMH), during the programme, who stressed the unmerited favour of God with unfailing love as a perfect gift.
He implored the people to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and look beyond short-term worldly things.
The programme was led by Mudonuyi Veswuh, Chaplain. The invocation prayer was offered by Rev. Vevotso Theluo. A special trio song was presented by Angolu, Kulungolu and Thujo, while another song was presented by Surhuveyi. Scriptures were read by Khwuvolu Nienu and Vezhosa Chuzho.

ADMINISTRATIVE TRAINING INSTITUTE

The Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima organized a Pre-Christmas programme on December 19.
Director general, V. Shashank Shekhar, extended warm Christmas greetings to everyone on the occasion, while the Christmas message was delivered by deputy secretary, Asalie Lese. The celebration featured special numbers presented by the NCS (probationers) 2025 batch and Timsen Jamir, with scripture reading by additional director (admin), Bendanglila, and LDA-cum-computer assistant, Vipievonuo Pienyü.
The programme was chaired by NCS (P) 2025 batch, Bozizo Tetseo.
