State government has relaxed the ban on single-use plastic (SUP) and plastic bottles below 1 litre till November 30, 2024 subject to certain conditions.
The relaxation has been made to address the problem faced by the industry and in the larger interest of the public.
However, the government has directed all the retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers of products using SUP/plastic bottles below 1 litre to dispose the existing stacks within the relaxation period. During the relaxation period, all the manufacturers and suppliers have been directed to take effective steps for collection and disposal of waste plastic bottles.
Further, the Federation of Nagaland Packaged Drinking Water Manufacturer Association (FNPMA) has been asked to implement the buyback scheme as proposed during the period.
The government has directed the deputy commissioners (DC) to disseminate the information to all the local bodies (ULBs) and village authorities for strict compliance and ensure collection and safe disposal of waste plastics in their respective jurisdictions. The government has, however, stated that all other items and conditions issued vide Notification Dated July 10, 2024 remained the same.
