GPRN/NSCN (Unification), Yimkhiung Region, has strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of its Naga army officer, ‘col.’ Yanrikiu Yimkhiung, on December 5 at Shamator town.
In a condemnation issued by its secretary MIP, under the leadership of president ‘gen.’ MB Neokpao Konyak and ato kilonser Alezo Venuh, expressed deepest outrage and grave concern regarding the actions of the perpetrator(s) for blatantly violating the ENPO resolution and undermined ongoing peace efforts in the region. It said such a barbaric and reprehensible act had no place in Naga society, and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
The group urged all to denounce the heinous crime regardless of who was responsible, and said every effort would be made to ensure that no stone was left unturned in identifying the culprits and securing justice in accordance with the law.
All rank and file of the GPRN/NSCN (Unification), Yimkhiung Region, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty grant them comfort and strength during this time of profound grief.
GSO-1 mourns: In a separate condolence message, GPRN/NSCN GSO-1 (Admn) ‘brig’ Khuiho Yeptho expressed shock over the demise of ‘col.’ Yankiu (Army No. 17548), son of Kiutsu of Longiunger, Yimkhiung Region.
GSO-1 said that late ‘col.’ Yankiu was enrolled in national service on February 15, 1994, and had served for 31 years with full commitment to the Naga national movement. His service and dedication, it stated, would be remembered in the pages of Naga history.
GPRN/NSCN said the nation had lost one of its most promising officers, adding that service to the nation till the last breath is the highest form of patriotism.
The group conveyed sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed that God grant them solace and comfort.
