Nagaland: GPRN/NSCN (U) on suspension

A day after 11 political members had joined the N.Kitovi-led GPRN/NSCN, the GPRN/NSCN (U) has clarified that the members had invited disciplinary actions over dereliction of duty.

In a press note MIP, GPRN/NSCN disclosed that former kilonser Tokiho Aye was initially appointed as advisor to collective leadership (ACL) due to his seniority and to help the government run smoothly. However, MIP said he subsequently faced multiple suspensions because of his gambling habit.

MIP said Tokiho was first suspended in May this year but pardoned after he submitted an apology letter to the government. However, in September, Tokiho was again suspended and subsequently terminated from national service on October 17, 2024, MIP said.
MIP noted that the dismissal angered Aye, and he started “misleading his gullible gambling partners.”

MIP said when the errant members were informed that such gambling activities would no longer be allowed, they chose to follow their leader, Tokiho Aye.

Further, MIP also alleged that former kilonser Kakiho Zhimo and former deputy kilonser Akheto Swu, both of who hold positions as deacons of church in their respective villages, were part and parcel of Tokiho’s group. MIP said it left the decision on whether to take action against their own deacon to the wisdom of their respective village.

MIP also said it was aware that Kitovi was likely to take advantage of every opportunity to make baseless and unfounded accusations but that it was understandable since anger has clouded his judgment.

MIP said Kitovi’s path ahead was uncertain due to increasing rumors of dissension within his faction and that the noose around him was getting tighter. It added that “everything will become crystal clear after the dust settles.”
