Nagaland handloom, crafts showcased at Chiang Mai

DIMPAUR, DEC 14 (NPN)

Nagaland’s handloom and craft traditions are gaining international attention at Chiang Mai Design Week 2025, with artisan-entrepreneurs from Nagaland showcasing their work at one of Southeast Asia’s leading design platforms.
The participation is facilitated by North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation under Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and North Eastern Council. Among the participants, Vekuvolo Dozo, an artisan-entrepreneur from Dimapur, is presenting handwoven textiles crafted on traditional loin looms using pure and organic cotton yarn. Her collection includes traditional Naga shawls and contemporary home furnishings such as cushions and runners, produced through an independent studio that employs women weavers from the region.
Also representing the State is Vinoto, a young entrepreneur showcasing contemporary craft expressions through his brand “Vion”, which brings together painters and pottery artisans from Nagaland. His work blends traditional Naga aesthetics with modern design interpretations.
Officials said Nagaland’s participation has generated interest among international audiences, opening avenues for collaboration, cultural exchange and market engagement, while reinforcing the State’s growing visibility in the global craft and design sector.
