Nagaland: Handloom Expo showcases local artisanship in Niuland

DIMAPUR

The five-day District Handloom Expo (DHE) “Tana Bana” commenced at Shepherd High School Ground, Niuland on January 23 and will continue till January 27.
The event is being organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Sub-District Industries Centre (SDIC), Niuland, headed by Functional Manager, Itsato Zhimomi.
According to a DIPR report, the inaugural progr amme was graced by DC Niuland, Sara S. Jamir, who lauded the department for organising the expo to encourage and expand local artisanship. She urged the department to continue extending support to artisans in every possible way.
Sara further emphasised the need for providing training, skill upgradation, and access to modern scientific tools and technologies to enhance productivity and improve the quality of products among local weavers and artisans.
