Health & Family Welfare observes 9th Ayurveda Day

Health & Family Welfare, department observed the 9th World Ayurveda Day at directorate office, Kohima on October 29 under the theme “Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health.”


Delivering the welcome address, Dr. T. Bendangtula, deputy director (Ayush), highlighted various milestones achieved by Ayush wing since its inception. She also conveyed about the impetus given by the Centre through Ministry of Ayush in the area of Ayurveda in Ayush system of medicine.

In her keynote address, Dr. Khonuo Mary, i/c Medical Superintendent, IAH Razha Chedema, Kohima said Ayurveda was an ancient system of medicine and has been recognized by World Health Organization for its contribution in health Sector globally.


Dr. Akhuo Sorhie, Mission Director, National Ayush Mission and National Health Mission highlighted about the various schemes and policies in Health Care Sector supported by the Ministry of Ayush. The event also witnessed the distribution of different varieties of medicinal plants saplings.


The benefits and importance on Medicinal plants alongside an overview of State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB) was presented by Dr. Lanusunep, consultant for SMPB (Ayush).
The progamme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Seyeikhrietuo John, State Nodal Officer for NAM.
