Nagaland holds UIDIC meeting on Aadhaar implementation

State-Level Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) meeting for 2026 was held on April 17 at Kohima, chaired by Abhijit Sinha, principal secretary, Home Department, Government of Nagaland. The meeting was attended by Ngachan Zimik, DDG, and Col. Abhishek Koushik, Director, UIDAI Regional Office Guwahati, along with senior officials from various state departments.
According to DIPR report, officials from the Commissioner’s office (Nodal Department), Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Social Welfare, Food & Civil Supplies, India Post, CSC, and Lead Bank Nagaland also participated. UIDAI officials delivered a detailed presentation covering Aadhaar’s key features and benefits, the new Aadhaar App, OVSE registration process, and strategies to accelerate enrolment for children (0–5 years) through Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE).
Other issues discussed included improving enrolment in low-saturation districts, bridging gaps in Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) pendency among students, conducting mission-mode MBU camps in schools, digitisation of birth registration, conversion of non-digitised state-issued identity/address documents, Aadhaar seeding and authentication for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), and sharing of deceased data with UIDAI.
Zimik informed that a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra is being established in Dimapur and is expected to be operational shortly.
Complimenting UIDAI for its support, Abhijit Sinha urged state officials to expedite Aadhaar enrolment and conduct MBU camps to ensure coverage of all residents, including children.
