Nagaland: Home guards launch seven-day Civil Defence training for Mon residents

DIMAPUR

Department of Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force, organized the first Phase of Civil Defence Wardens & Volunteers Training for seven days, funded by the Directorate General Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The training commenced from January 15, and will continue till 21st January 2026 at Town Hall, Mon. 8 (eight) instructors and 360 Volunteers are participating from 6 (Six) Wards of Mon Town.
Delivered the keynote address, SDO (C) Mon, Ajit Kumar explaining the importance and the changes that brings through such kind of training in the community. He said that during any disaster, the community is the first responders, and requested the volunteers to attend the meeting regularly, understand and take the learning and try to develop their skill.
He also encouraged them to train their family, friends and neighbors’ what they learn from the training. He also assured full cooperation from the district administration.
President, All Ward Union, Mon Town, Y Pongba Konyak, thanked the Government of Nagaland and Home Guards Department headed by the district commandant for organizing the training. He asserted that Civil Defence is lifesaving, like the Red Cross Society dedicated for the service of humanity. Informing that the training would bring transformation to the untrained citizens into proactive first responders, essential for disaster mitigation, relief and community safety, he encouraged the volunteers to participate sincerely and volunteer for the nation.
The programme was chaired by S.I, Lipoksashi while the welcome address was delivered by district commandant, HG, CD & SDRF, Mon, Lichemse Sangtam.
