Nagaland entered India’s digital innovation map this week with the launch of LevelUp Northeast – Gaming Track, a two-day event held in Kohima and Dimapur aimed at empowering youth with gaming and creative tech skills.
Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS), with support from Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), the programme highlighted opportunities in gaming, design, storytelling, and entrepreneurship. The sessions were conducted under IDGS’s GameForge platform.
Industry experts from KRAFTON India, JetSynthesys, Chitkara University, and Reliance Industries interacted with students at Kohima Science College on July 8, on topics such as game development, storytelling, legal frameworks, and design thinking. CII Nagaland chairperson Hokhuli Sema said the initiative is building bridges between creativity and opportunity.
At Tetso College Dimapur on July 9, students took part in workshops on game design, career paths, and world-building. SEPC DG, Dr. Abhay Sinha, delivered the keynote virtually, stressing Northeast India’s key role in the global gaming industry.
Participants gained hands-on experience in turning ideas into games, startups, and creative ventures. The sessions promoted use of local folklore, art, and culture in developing globally relevant digital content.
The organisers plan to continue support through online hackathons, mentoring, and future workshops. A national-level Tech + Gaming Summit will be held later this year to further spotlight the Northeast as a hub for digital innovation.
