The department of Economics, in collaboration with IQAC of the ICFAI University, Nagaland, organized a webinar on the topic “Unemployment and Income Inequality in Nagaland” on October 30, 2025 via Google Meet at 1:30 p.m. in the University auditorium. A press release by Registrar of ICFAI University Nagaland, Rupanka Bhuyan, stated that the primary objective of the webinar was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the employment scenario and the existing disparities in income distribution within the state.
Dr. Moatula Ao, associate professor, School of Economics, University of Hyderabad, who was the resource person for the session, delivered an insightful presentation on Nagaland’s employment situation and income disparities.
She discussed unemployment trends, causes of joblessness, and the widening rural–urban gap, while emphasizing the impact of education, gender, and occupational structure on income distribution. Her presentation offered valuable analytical and contextual perspectives on the economic challenges confronting the state. The webinar was well-received and proved highly informative, and enriching students’ understanding.
