On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donors’ Day, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Nagaland State Branch, has extended gratitude to all voluntary blood donors who had selflessly given the gift of life.
In a statement, IRCS Nagaland State Branch general secretary Akhale Vizol Khamo said the day was a reminder of the invaluable contribution each of them made to the health and survival of countless individuals across the state and the nation.
Noting that their selfless act of donating blood not only saved lives but also promoted a sense of community, kindness, and solidarity, he pointed out that the blood they gave helped people recover from surgeries, traumatic injuries, and life-threatening illnesses, ensuring that no one was left to suffer from a shortage of this precious resource.
Over the years, through their steadfast support, he said the IRCS, Nagaland State Branch, had been able to conduct numerous successful blood donation drives and establish a reliable supply of safe blood.
Acknowledging that these efforts had empowered the IRCS, Nagaland State Branch to respond swiftly during emergencies and disasters, he mentioned that he was immensely grateful to each donor, volunteer, and organisation that had partnered the Red Cross in this mission.
While celebrating the day, he also called upon those who had not yet experienced the joy of giving blood to join this life-saving cause. With a single donation, he mentioned every individual had the potential to save up to three lives, emphasising that there was no greater act of compassion than this.
