DIMAPUR

Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Dimapur district branch, extended humanitarian assistance to families affected by the fire incident at Phaipijang village on October 22, 2025.
According to IRCS Dimapur, the fire gutted eight plots, impacting 56 individuals—many of whom earned their livelihood as auto drivers and hawkers selling roasted chana in the local market.
Following the incident, IRCS Dimapur chairman, Chandu Agarwal, along with a team member, visited the site to assess the damage and interact with the victims. After a joint discussion with Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Tinojongshi Chang, and IRCS Dimapur president, it was decided that immediate relief materials would be distributed.
Each affected household received essential items including kitchen utensils, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, bed covers, and pillow covers. Some of the relief materials were provided by the IRCS state branch under its emergency support initiative.
Those present during the distribution included IRCS Dimapur chairman Chandu Agarwal, advisor Capt. Hekiye Sema, and managing committee members Lipok Ao and Ajit Jain.
Expressing solidarity with the victims, the IRCS team reaffirmed its commitment to support communities in times of distress and continue extending humanitarian aid wherever needed.
