Minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, inaugurated the 50th annual sports meet of the Niuland Area Sports Association (NASA), commemorating the 50th Hovishe Memorial Trophy, at Hovishe village under Niuland district on November 3.
Addressing the gathering, Jacob underscored the evolving role of sports in society, stating that the era of solely pursuing government jobs is giving way to new opportunities in sports as a viable avenue for employment, income generation, and social advancement in Nagaland. He encouraged athletes to embrace the spirit of fairness and make the most of the occasion.
Jacob expressed hope that the annual sports meet would continue to serve as a platform for reaffirming friendship, promoting peace, fostering unity, and inspiring hope across the Niuland area. He further urged participants to uphold discipline and sportsmanship throughout the event. The sports meet will culminate on November 8 with closing festivities.
