The Joint Council Forum (JCF) comprising of Churches Colony, NST colony and Middle Point, has expressed grave concern over what it termed as persistent reckless and high-speed movement of vehicles along Tajen Ao Road, describing the stretch as a “highly dangerous zone.”
In a statement, the forum said the road passes through densely populated residential areas, commercial hubs, schools, educational institutions and churches, with continuous pedestrian activity.
However, heavy vehicles including trucks, dumpers and sand carriers (during permitted hours), along with smaller vehicles, were allegedly overspeeding with disregard for traffic norms and public safety.
The forum said the situation was underscored by the recent tragic loss of two lives in a collision involving a motorcycle and a bicycle, which it described as an entirely preventable incident.
Urging immediate intervention, the JCF appealed to the concerned authorities to strictly enforce speed limits, regulate movement of heavy vehicles through populated areas, install warning signage and traffic-calming measures, and deploy traffic personnel during vulnerable hours.
It stressed that public safety could not be compromised and called for urgent steps to prevent further loss of life and restore order on the road.
