Districts across Nagaland joined the nationwide launch of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses on October 11, coinciding with the inauguration and foundation stone laying of over 1,100 agricultural infrastructure projects by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC), Pusa, New Delhi.
KOHIMA: In Kohima, the programme was held at the DC’s Conference Hall and graced by Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir as the special guest. In his address, Jamir highlighted the scheme’s potential to empower farmers and informed that Mon district, along with 99 others across India, has been selected for implementation. He urged departments to replicate successful models and work towards grassroots development. Seeds were also distributed to farmers during the event. SDAO Viketuno Chusi delivered the keynote address, explaining that the scheme targets low-performing districts to enhance productivity and achieve self-reliance in pulses. The programme concluded with a live webcast of the national launch.
DIMAPUR: In Dimapur, the event was organised at the DC’s Conference Hall by the District Administration in collaboration with Agriculture and Allied Departments. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who attended as special guest, emphasised the importance of agriculture even in urban districts and called for wider dissemination of the scheme’s benefits. SDAO Rokovotsolie Peseyie delivered the keynote address, outlining the scheme’s consolidation of 36 programmes across 11 ministries and its focus on modern technology, irrigation, and market linkages.
CHUMOUKEDIMA: In Chumoukedima, a two-way live webcast was held at the DC’s Office. District Agriculture Officer Moianla Pongen briefed on the scheme’s objectives, including crop diversification, improved irrigation, and financial assistance through NABARD. Resource persons Meciesunu Sakhrie and Avizo Virie presented sessions on Rabi crops and natural farming. Deputy Commissioner Polan John distributed seeds and inputs to farmers.
NIULAND: In Niuland, the launch programme was held at the DC’s Conference Hall. Deputy Commissioner Sara S. Jamir highlighted the scheme’s focus on enhancing productivity and infrastructure, and urged officers to sensitise citizens about the scheme. District Agriculture Officer Thepusa Nakro delivered the keynote address, and the event included a live webcast of the Prime Minister’s address. The programme was chaired by SDAO Dr. Arenjungla, with vote of thanks delivered by Agriculture Officer Ditolyn Sumi.
WOKHA: In Wokha, the launch was organised at the DC Hall, where officials and stakeholders witnessed the live telecast. Senior Scientist, KVK Wokha, Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, and SDO (Civil), Echungbemo Erui, addressed the gathering, highlighting the schemes’ role in strengthening infrastructure, promoting entrepreneurship, and improving pulse production. Members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and representatives from various departments also participated.
TSEMINYU: In Tseminyu, the event was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, led by Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch. Officials from agriculture and allied departments attended the live telecast of the national launch.
PHEK: In Phek, the launch programme was held at the DC’s Conference Hall. ADC Phek, Thejakhrienuo Nisa, delivered the keynote address, while District Agriculture Officer Ruovilhou Tseibu Rulho spoke on the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses and its benefits to farmers. The programme was chaired by EAC Phek, Imnasenla Walling, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Agriculture Officer Veniechi Vese.
