DIMAPUR: Members of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) from Nagaland, supported by the Nagaland State Biodiversity Board (NSBB), took part in the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2026 celebrations held at the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, on May 22, 2026.
On the sidelines of the event, BMCs from Nagaland participated in an exhibition where Self Help Groups (SHGs) displayed biodiversity-based produce at the stall allotted to NSBB. The Nagaland stall was visited by Madhya Pradesh chief minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) Bhupender Yadav, and Union Minister of State for MoEFCC Kirti Vardhan Singh. The dignitaries and officials appreciated the enthusiasm and efforts of Nagaland’s BMC members in conserving biodiversity and local traditions.
The SHGs were supported under the Forest and Biodiversity Management Project (FBMP) initiated by NSBB. The exhibition and IDB commemorative event were jointly organized by MoEFCC, Government of India, and the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA). A Pre-IBCA Summit event on cheetah conservation was also held alongside the celebrations.
