Nagaland: JPYO warns contractors on poor quality road

Jalukie Pumling Youth Organization (JPYO) has alleged that construction of NH 129A(Package-II) road including side drainage bridges and culverts by-passing Old Jalukie village was made with sub-standard poor quality materials such as sand, cement concrete solution mixture which were evidently not going to last.

JPYO said its members inspected the road which has already shown visible cracks and singes of premature degradation even before the work could be complete.
JPYO raised concern about the drainage and durability of the culvert especially in withstanding heavy rainfall that could result in sinkage of the road when heavy vehicles ply over it.

JPYO said it had repeatedly expressed concerns over sub-standard materials and workmanship with the contractor/sub-contractors but to no avail.
In order to ensure longevity of the road, a culvert and side drains should have bee constructed for drainage to prevent damage to the highway including the agricultureal/plantation and reserved area along its stretch.

Jalukie Pumling Youth Organization said it sought urgent remedial measures to be undertaken otherwise it would be compelled to take stringent measures against the sub-contractors or parties responsible for the negligence.
