Minister of Roads and Bridges, G. Kaito Aye, on Sunday called upon students to work hard, remain committed, and secure their future through excellence. He was speaking as chief guest at the golden jubilee celebration of Ghokhuvi Students’ Union (GSU) held under the theme “Together Towards Tomorrow”. The event brought together students, village leaders, and community members to reflect on progress and chart the way forward.
Citing the recent police constable recruitment where 1,176 posts attracted 33,882 applicants, including postgraduates, Kaito reminded students of the growing competition and urged them to prepare diligently for their careers.
Lauding Ghokhuvi’s high literacy rates, the minister emphasized the need for quality education to compete with other Naga communities. He pointed out that even Grade IV jobs now require merit, with no scope for backdoor appointments.
Acknowledging the union’s maturity after 50 years, Kaito called on the village to produce officers through competitive examinations, thereby earning respect and advancing alongside others. “When villages and youth succeed, society recognizes them,” he stated.
In a major announcement, the minister pledged to sponsor free rations for students in the hostel at Government High School, Satoi, for three years. He further encouraged admissions in the Satoi block and pursuing higher secondary courses at Government Higher Secondary School, Satakha. Appealing to church leaders to guide youth towards discipline and shared responsibility, Kaito extended his wishes for Ghokhuvi’s blessings and growth beyond the jubilee.
