Nagaland KESA holds ‘Khuzama Farmers Market’

DIMAPUR

The Khuzama Empowerment and Skill Advancement (KESA) hosted the second edition of the ‘Khuzama Farmers Market’ on November 6 and 7, at Khuzama village, Kohima bringing together local farmers, artisans, small business owners, and visitors from across the region.
A press release by KESA Khuzama Village, Kohima stated that this year’s market featured a wider range of stalls, showcasing fresh organic produce, traditional crafts, modern handmade goods, floriculture products, homemade foods, and local enterprise innovations, and served as a platform for community members, especially youth and women, to promote grassroots entrepreneurship and celebrate local skills.
A highlight of the market was the ongoing effort to preserve and share cultural identity. The ‘Khuzama Village Walk’ provided visitors with guided experiences of traditional architecture and community heritage, while the ‘Nature Safari’ offered scenic explorations of the surrounding landscape, known for its biodiversity and panoramic hill views. These attractions drew both local and visiting participants, strengthening interest in culture based eco-tourism in the region.
The release stated that market reflects KESA’s broader vision to foster sustainable livelihood opportunities, encourage skill development, and support a resilient local economy and also reinforced unity and social cooperation within the village.
The Khuzama Farmers Market is expected to continue as an annual platform for community development in the lead-up to the Khuzama Baptist Church Centenary Celebrations in 2030, the release added.
