Nagaland: Kevime crowned champion of VYO Wrestling meet

DIMAPUR, Jan 11 (NPN)

Kevime Vitsu emerged as the champion of the 78th Wrestling Meet hosted by Viswema Youth Organisation (VYO) at the Multipurpose Hall, Tewetso-ozwu, Viswema, drawing spirited participation and community support.
In a historic first for Naga Style Wrestling, the champion was awarded a plot of land measuring 100 ft × 100 ft, along with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, sponsored by Tepuleho Pusa. In the final bout, Kevime Vitsu defeated Kevidel Mekro to win the title.
Viboto Hibo and Kelengozo Chaya secured third and fourth positions respectively.
In the Junior category, results were as follows: Zayievi Kikhi – 1st Position, Metevito Vitsu – 2nd Position, Kevichozo Kin – 3rd Position, Asatha Sothu – 4th Position and Sheketho Pusa – 5th Position.
A total of 18 senior wrestlers and 5 junior wrestlers competed for the coveted honours.
The programme was graced by Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, TaFMA, as the special guest. In his address, Dr. Sothu encouraged wrestlers to uphold discipline and strive for excellence in their chosen field.
The programme was chaired by Viphrezo Kweho, General Secretary, VYO. Rev. Saphrül Pucho, Pastor VBC, led the invocation, while the oath-taking was administered by Puzakhwezo Khanyo, Games & Sports Secretary, VYO. The vote of thanks was proposed by Vileto Kennao, Social & Cultural Secretary, VYO.
