Nagaland: KGKK Impact Award function held at Kuhuboto

The Kuhuboto Ghakhu Kukami Kuqhakulu(KGKK), in collaboration with frontal social organisations of the Kuhuboto area, initiated the first edition of the ‘KGKK Grassroots Impact Award’ on December 13, at KGPO Hall, Kuhuboto, to recognise changemakers whose commitment and dedication have significantly improved the lives of citizens in the Kuhuboto area. Four individuals from different sectors were honoured for their outstanding service.
Dr. Narola, medical officer in-charge, PHC Kuhuboto, was awarded for excellence in medical services. Kuhuboto PHC is one of only four rural PHCs in Nagaland to receive NQAS certification under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The PHC achieved the highest NQAS score of 93.76% among rural PHCs in the State. It has also received the ‘PHC Kayakalp Award and Commendation’ for four consecutive years, and was recognised as the ‘Best Performing Government Office in Niuland District (2025)’.
The KGKK recognised Dr. Narola for her instrumental role in managing the unit with utmost commitment and for enhancing the quality of public healthcare delivery, with the aim of inspiring similar excellence in public service.
Sumito Awomi, lineman, power department, was awarded for excellence in utility services. He has set an exceptional standard of work ethic by rendering dedicated service at any hour of the day or night since his induction, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and prompt grievance redressal for the community.
Tovi M., graduate teacher, Kuhuboto Government High School, was awarded for excellence in educational services in a government school. The award recognised his voluntary assumption of additional responsibilities and increased workload over the years, particularly during periods when no headmasters or assistant headmasters were deputed, thereby ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the school. His continued willingness to walk the extra mile, shouldering additional responsibilities with ownership and accountability, sets a high standard and serves as an example for others to follow.
Abeto K. Chishi, administrator, Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kuhuboto, was awarded for excellence in educational services in a private school, for his dedication and hard work in building, from the ground up, the only Higher Secondary School in the Kuhuboto area. His unwavering commitment to educating and nurturing students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds has played a vital role in strengthening educational access in the region.
On the occasion, the KGKK also initiated a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) intervention for village schools in partnership with Bhartia Infra Projects Ltd., distributing 20 RO water filters and 5 power inverters. A survey conducted by the Students’ Union across village schools in the Kuhuboto area during the academic year 2025 highlighted the lack of basic amenities such as clean drinking water and power backup.
The programme was graced by Nuhuta Tunyi, NCS, SDO (Civil), Kuhuboto, and P. V. Raju, general manager, Bhartia Infra Projects Ltd., as special guests, along with the Kukamis and GBs of Kuhuboto Town and 25 villages.
