Nagaland Khamo calls for youth, farmers projects

Advisor and chairman of District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Phek, Kudecho Khamo, has called upon all heads of departments (HoDs) under Phek district to personally initiate projects aimed at empowering youth and farmers to boost income generation and strengthen the local economy.
Addressing the DPDB meeting held at Vamuzo Memorial Hall, Chozuba Town on Friday, Khamo noted that it was the first time a DPDB meeting was held at Chozuba since the establishment of the ADC Headquarters, terming it a historic moment.
He encouraged youth to avail government schemes related to entrepreneurship and skill development, and urged public cooperation to ensure effective implementation of schemes meant for farmers and entrepreneurs.
Highlighting the developmental potential of Chozuba Town, Khamo expressed concern over its slow progress and assured that the matter has been taken up with the state government under the leadership of chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio. He urged departments to leave a legacy of development in honour of their visit.
Khamo also drew attention to the challenges faced by farmers due to epidemics and swine diseases, and called upon the Veterinary Department to intervene. He emphasized the district’s potential in Fisheries, Horticulture, Industries and Commerce, and Khadi and Village Industries, citing its proximity to the state capital and good road connectivity.
Reiterating the responsibilities of public office holders and government officials, he called for proactive efforts to impact lives and build a legacy for future generations. He also sought support from civil societies and citizens to ensure the success of the cleanliness drive, adding that rewards would be given at the year-end.
Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu MLA also expressed happiness over the DPDB meeting being held at Chozuba for the first time and urged officers to maintain the same spirit in their respective postings. He highlighted the recent political realignment, stating that the now full-fledged NPF government would work to protect Naga identity, culture, religion and political ideology, and assured to serve with honesty and transparency.
ADC Chozuba, Dr. Dianna Patton, noted that since the upgradation of the ADC Headquarters in 2009, this was the first DPDB meeting held at Chozuba. During the meeting, the house recommended the upgradation of GHS Chetheba to GHSS Chetheba, construction of a new school building for GHSS Chozuba, upgradation of JE (Power) to SDO (Power) Chozuba, Executive Engineer (R&B) to Superintending Engineer (SE) Phek, and SDO (R&B) to EE (R&B) Chozuba.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Phek, Rhosietho Nyuthe. Presentations were made by Water Resources, PWD (Mechanical Engineering), and Excise departments.
