Advisor of CAWD and Taxes, Küdecho Khamo, has criticized the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) for the poor road quality and slow progress in the ongoing work at NH-29 (Kohima-Jessami Road), particularly on the Kikruma-Chakhabama stretch.
Speaking at the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting at Phek on October 15, Khamo pointed out that the entire work progress was very slow, sub-standard and specification were not properly followed.
He said maintenance contractors have totally failed to perform but no action has been initiated. Khamo also questioned the lackadaisical attitude of the NHIDCL for unnecessarily blaming monsoon and the maintenance contractors, which has caused immense hardship not only to the commuters but also risk to their life.
Khamo expressed surprise on the poor workmanship of NHIDCL engaged in Nagaland and questioned about their seriousness by comparing the works undertaken by the company in other states, which he felt has undermined the people of Nagaland.
He therefore cautioned that the public may be compelled to even take more serious courses of action if the attitude of the company continues. The project is executed under Bharatmala Pariyojana by Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor, M/s Ratna Infrastructure Projects Pvt. Ltd.
Earlier, Neisatuo Mero MLA and advisor of New & Renewable Energy & Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, N. Nyusietho Nyuthe also spoke at the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, DPDB Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam.
During the meeting, the change of nomenclature of Nazareth School, Pfutsero to Nazareth Higher secondary school Pfutsero was approved.
