College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Jalukie, Peren, Nagaland, organized a Kisan Goshti cum Input Distribution Programme on the theme “Smart Livestock Farming for Higher Productivity” at Mhainamtsi village, Peren, on February 7, 2026. The programme was funded by ICAR–National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad.
Albert Ezung, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jalukie, Peren, graced the occasion as chief guest. In his address, he lauded the College for its contribution towards livestock farming and urged farmers to adopt scientific methods for holistic agricultural development. Dr. K.L. Meena, principal Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK, Peren, encouraged farmers to avail KVK services and explore improved varieties of pulses, paddy, and potatoes. Earlier, Dr. I. Shakuntala, Dean of the College, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the extension activities undertaken by the institution to improve livestock production.
The programme featured a technical session and farmer–scientist interaction. Inputs including 1,000 chicks and 500 kg of poultry starter feed were distributed to 65 farmers. An animal health cum awareness camp was also conducted, benefitting 115 farmers with veterinary medicines, minerals, and vitamins. Altogether, 256 participants attended the programme, comprising 213 farmers, 40 officials from the College, and three Gaon Buras of the village. Dr. Uttarani Maibam, Assistant Professor, VPB, and Convener of the programme, proposed the vote of thanks.
