ATMA Kiphire, Pungro block successfully conducted Kisan Ghosti, capacity building training-cum-demonstration on agri and allied sector with the utilization of newly introduced geo-tagging feature through the Krishi Mapper App.
According to DIPR report, the initiative is part of a broader mission to digitize and collect data on farmland where crop demonstrations are carried out for farmers in Nagaland.
Kisan Gosthi was focused on ‘Integrated farming system (IFS), enhancing productivity and livelihood of marginal farmers’ at Pungro village on February 24, 2026.
The training was conducted on ‘fishery pond management and goatry farm management’ at Iponger and New Vongti village on February 25 and 26, 2026, while the demonstration highlighted vegetable cultivation practices. Capacity building on oyster mushroom production technology and strengthening leadership, record and book keeping was conducted at Pungro village and Thetowong village on February 27 and 28.
The programme was chaired by BTM, Moanaro I Ao and ATM, Merennungba Imchen, with AI Omega and BTT convenor, M.Yochung senior VFA serving as the resource person.
During the session, the resource person stressed the importance of preserving indigenous seeds, improving traditional farming methods, reducing chemical usage, and promoting the application of bio-fertilizers and organic pest control measures.
Additionally, Farm School, Food Security Group (FSG), and Seed Money (SM) initiatives were launched during the programme. The training covered Pungro Village, Iponger village, Thetowong village and New Vongti Village from February 24 to 28, 2026.
