Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has issued a directive to all cable television operators, internet service providers, and related agencies within its jurisdiction to immediately remove unused cables and properly streamline loose, hanging, or improperly installed wires. According to KMC CEO Zapuno Sophie, the directive has been issued following numerous public complaints regarding the hazardous and unsightly manner in which overhead cables are being installed across the town. KMC stated that such installations have led to defacement of public and private property, posed safety risks to pedestrians, and caused civic inconveniences including obstruction of pathways and visual clutter. KMC has further instructed all service providers to ensure that future installations are neat, secure, and safe, in order to preserve the town’s aesthetic and public safety standards.
