Nagaland Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dimapur hosts Agri-Entrepreneurship exposure for students

DIMAPUR

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur organized a training-cum-exposure programme on “Agri-entrepreneurship opportunities” for students of Beanstalk School, Dimapur on November 4, 2025.
The initiative aimed to create awareness among school students about modern agricultural practices and inspire them towards agri-based entrepreneurship.
The programme began with an introductory session where students shared their interests in agriculture and allied sectors. Dr. Phool Kumari, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Dimapur, welcomed the participants and briefed them on the role of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), highlighting KVK’s mandates and activities. She encouraged students to view agriculture as a sustainable career and contribute to food security and rural development.
Students were then taken on a field visit led by Dr. Akshay (Subject Matter Specialist, Agronomy) and Dr. Moanaro (Programme Assistant), where they observed crop cultivation practices, vermicomposting, piggery units, and Integrated Farming System (IFS) models developed by ICAR Nagaland Centre.
A session on “Agri-entrepreneurship opportunities” was conducted by Marneni Divya Sree (Subject Matter Specialist, Agricultural Extension), who spoke on agri-startups, value addition, agribusiness ventures, and government support schemes for aspiring entrepreneurs.
To encourage practical application, students were provided with assorted vegetable seed packets to initiate kitchen gardens at home. The programme concluded with an interactive session between students and KVK scientists, fostering dialogue on agricultural innovation and youth engagement.
