Nagaland: KSUD condemns abductionand assault of Naga businessman

DIMAPUR

The Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) has strongly condemned the abduction and assault of the head Gaon Bura of Vikutho village and local businessman, Kiyeto Zhimomi, allegedly by members of NSCN (Khango-Vusshe) on January 19.
In a statement issued through its media cell, Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur expressed deep concern over the incident, particularly as NSCN (Khango-Vusshe) is currently under a ceasefire agreement with the Government of India. The union stated that any such act, if proven, is a violation of the spirit of the ceasefire and undermines peace, public trust and the rule of law.
Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur further stated that it is disheartening to witness incidents of abduction, assault and other illegal activities continuing in society even as the world progresses. The union condemned all forms of kidnapping, abduction, assault and ransom-driven intimidation, stating that such acts create fear and insecurity among civilians and the business community.
The union urged law enforcement agencies and ceasefire monitoring authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and take appropriate action to ensure accountability and restore public confidence.
Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur also affirmed its solidarity with the victim and his family, reiterating its commitment to peace, justice and the safety of the people.
