Konyak Union (KU) has appealed to the state chief minister and the state government to prioritize and expedite the long-awaited foothill road project.
In a press release, KU president Tingthok Konyak and general secretary Manpang K Wangyen maintained that the project was vital in improving connectivity and promoting regional development. KU, therefore, urged the government to initiate construction from the Tizit point at the earliest possible date.
The union also requested all the responsible organisations, groups or contractors to refrain from any interference that could hinder or delay the tendering process or the progress of the project.
“It is essential that the work proceeds smoothly and without any disruptions for the benefit of the people and the state as a whole,” KU stated.
Further, the union appealed to the state government and the responsible department to allocate contract work only to contractors deemed fully capable and efficient to carry out the construction.
It urged the government to ensure that capable contractors were selected so as to maintain quality and timely completion of the significant project.
KU said it was ready to extend any necessary support to expedite the project. It expressed hope that the government would take swift action to make the Foothill Road a reality, beginning from Tizit.
