Nagaland KU warns against illegal extortions, forceful demand

DIMAPUR, NOV 20 (NPN)

Konyak Union (KU) has warned individuals, groups, and factions involved in illegal extortions, forceful demands, and disturbances in Mon district.
In a press release, KU president K Yamao Konyak and general secretary Wango Konyak expressed serious concern over what it described as “ever mounting disturbances and illegal extortions/forceful demand” on business community including suppliers and those ferrying goods from Assam state to Mon district, forceful financial and livestock demand from village councils as well as demand for percentage from contractors undertaking developmental works in Mon district.
KU cautioned that the union would initiate stringent action against any individual or groups/factions involved in such activities, adding the names of those involved would be “openly publicized.”
The union also reiterated its appeal to all the factions to cease loitering in uniform with arms in Mon district.
Further, the Konyak Union has urged the higher authority of all the factions to issue directive to its members to exercise restraint and to refrain from unwanted activities immediately. KU said unwanted activities was not only a threat to the community but detrimental in nature hampering the economic growth in the region, adding public cannot tolerate anymore.
Meanwhile, Konyak Union has urged the police and law enforcing agency to bring to book those involved as per the law of the land.
