As part of the on-going capacity building initiatives, ATMA- Kuhuboto block organised a farmers’ exposure tour to ICAR Jharnapani, Medziphema on February 5.
Resource person of the programme was Dr. Harendra Verma, scientist and Dr. Moatoshi Jamir, while a total of 20 progressive farmers along with three ATMA staff members participated in the exposure visit.
During the tour, farmers were taken to the on-field experimental plots of oilseed crops such as linseed and sunflower, where scientists explained improved scientific management practices, varietal performance and crop protection measures. The participants also visited experimental plots of various vegetable crops, gaining practical insights into improved cultivation techniques. Farmers were introduced to poultry units and other livestock components, highlighting integrated farming approaches and income generating opportunities. An interactive session was held with the farm in-charge and scientist of ICAR Jharnapani, during which farmers actively shared feedback, clarified doubts and discussed field level challenges.
