Nagaland: KVK Dimapur observes National Farmers’ Day

DIMAPUR

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, under the ICAR–Research Complex for North-Eastern Hill (NEH) Region, observed National Farmers’ Day (Kisan Diwas) 2025 at its Conference Hall on December 23, reaffirming its commitment to farmers’ empowerment, agricultural extension and policy awareness.
The programme, held on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, brought together farmers, agricultural experts and extension workers for recognition, knowledge sharing and discussions on rural employment policy.
KVK Dimapur expressed gratitude to farmers for their contributions to crop production and allied activities.
Advisory inputs and support materials including vegetable seeds and organic manure were distributed. A lecture on the significance of Kisan Diwas was delivered by Dr. Akshay Ujjwal, SMS (Agronomy).
In line with the broader policy context, Dr. Bendangla Imsong, SMS/CTO, conducted awareness sessions on the newly enacted Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB G RAM G Act). The landmark law, which replaces MGNREGA, was passed by Parliament and received presidential assent in late December 2025. It aims to strengthen rural job creation, livelihood guarantees and integrated development frameworks for agricultural and non-farm work.
Experts from ICAR KVK outlined the key features of the new Act, stressing its relevance for farmers, rural households and allied sectors. Farmers were encouraged to understand how the provisions may interface with agricultural productivity, on-farm work opportunities and community-based rural enterprises. An open discussion enabled questions and clarifications.
Altogether, 62 participants attended the programme.
