Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Zunheboto, Nagaland University, inaugurated a five-day residential training programme on natural farming for Community Resource Persons (CRPs) and Krishi Sakhis under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF). The programme is sponsored by SAMETI, Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, and is being held from December 10 at the KVK Conference Hall.
ADC Akuluto, Tiayanger Jamir, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, he urged the farming community to adopt natural farming practices that their ancestors traditionally followed and which are now being revived at the national level.
He emphasized the need for producing healthy, chemical-free food, and encouraged farmers to produce and market local farm products with proper branding and labelling, establish seed banks in every village, seek support from financial institutions, explore GI tagging for locally unique products, and strengthen SHGs for better visibility and collective growth. He also advised them to leverage social media for marketing and outreach.
He concluded by motivating the CRPs and farmers to become brand ambassadors of natural farming in Zunheboto district.
The inaugural session began with a welcome speech by assistant, Yangermongla I. Pongen, a brief introduction of the program was presented by principal scientist and head of KVK Zunheboto, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, vote of thanks was proposed by CTO (Agriculture/G&PB), Dr. Visakho Shunyu.
The five-day training will include technical sessions, hands-on demonstrations, field exposure, and expert interactions designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to promote natural farming across villages in Zunheboto district.
