Nagaland Kyong Nchumchio Okho to host ‘Tokhu Night 2025’ in Dimapur

Staff Reporter

The Kyong Nchumchio Okho (KNO), a Dimapur-based non-profit organization, is set to host its much-awaited cultural and entertainment event “Tokhu Night” on November 7 at the Multi-disciplinary Sports Complex, Dimapur football ground, coinciding with the Tokhu Emong festival.
The event aims to celebrate the rich heritage of the Lotha community while promoting unity, showcasing local talent, and supporting community welfare.
Speaking at a press conference on October 25 at Lotha Hoho Ki near the DC Court, Dimapur, KNO Chairman Mhademo shared that the organization was founded on January 30, 2010, by 12 members committed to serving society through charitable initiatives. Since its inception, KNO has conducted free medical camps, provided educational assistance, and offered scholarships to underprivileged students.
Advisor Benathung Kithan highlighted that KNO now comprises around 40 members from diverse professions, all dedicated to the welfare of the Lotha community. He added that while their activities are modest, they are purposeful and inspire the younger generation to uphold community values.
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the KNO successfully revived its events in 2024, drawing nearly 5,000 attendees. Reflecting on the milestone, member Benjamin shared that “when blessed, it is important to give back,” adding that the overwhelming response last year inspired the organization to continue hosting meaningful community events.
This year’s Tokhu Night promises to be an exciting celebration, featuring live performances by three bands and several solo artistes. The event will also include around 20 food and product stalls prioritizing Lotha entrepreneurs, alongside cultural showcases and raffle draws.
The organizers emphasized that the event is not just about entertainment but also about promoting local artists, nurturing young talent, and strengthening cultural ties within the community. Funds raised will support future welfare initiatives, including medical camps and community outreach programs. The essence of Tokhu Night, they said, lies in celebrating with purpose—preserving culture, supporting one another, and giving back to society. Entry to the event is free, welcoming people of all ages. For stall registration or inquiries, one can contact 7085116582.
