Nagaland launches key e-services on DigiLocker

Advisor for Information Technology & Communications (IT&C), Economics & Statistics and Evaluation, Sethrongkyu Sangtam, on Friday launched several new e-services linked to DigiLocker, including birth and death certificates, CMHIS cards, and government ID cards.
The launch took place during a one-day workshop on “DigiLocker (User Experience for Government Application)” and “e-Procurement and eTendering System”, organised by the Department of IT&C in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) in Kohima.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Sangtam said the integration of services with DigiLocker will allow citizens to securely access their official documents online, promoting trust in public service delivery. He described DigiLocker and the eProcurement system as key pillars of digital governance, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a transparent and accountable Digital India.
He also thanked MeitY for its continued support and collaboration with the state government, and acknowledged the ministry’s presence at the workshop as a strong example of cooperative federalism.
Commissioner & secretary, IT&C, Arenla Jamir, said the workshop marked an important milestone for Nagaland’s digital journey. She noted that DigiLocker is not just a digital repository but a symbol of transparency and citizen empowerment. She also highlighted the potential of the eProcurement system to improve competitiveness and accountability in public procurement.
Arenla encouraged officials to actively adopt these platforms in their departments to improve efficiency and enhance the citizen experience of e-governance.
Earlier, director of IT&C, Er. Sabou Yashu welcomed dignitaries and participants from various government departments. He said DigiLocker enables citizens to access documents anytime, anywhere, and that the workshop aimed to empower citizens and streamline government processes.
Additional director, NeGD, MeitY, Ajay Kumar assured support to departments facing challenges and said the integration would benefit sectors like education, MSMEs, and electricity boards by reducing paperwork and improving governance.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Additional Director, IT&C, Er. Asono Mor. The workshop was attended by senior officers from various departments and officials from MeitY.
