Nagaland launches Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan

In a unified effort to promote women’s health and strengthen family well-being, districts across Nagaland launched the “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan”, a nationwide campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campaign, which runs until October 2, 2025, aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services to women, adolescent girls, and children through district-level health camps and awareness programs.
Tizit, Mon district: The campaign was officially launched at CHC Tizit by Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) S. Phangnon Konyak. Addressing the gathering, she emphasized the importance of community awareness and participation, stating that caring for one’s household is a form of nation-building. The event featured speeches by SDO (C) Tumben Tsanglao and HCMC chairman Penkham, with a health camp providing consultations and services to the public. The programme also included a virtual participation in the national launch led by the Prime Minister.
Longleng district: At District Hospital Longleng, Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom graced the launch event. Medical Superintendent Dr. Lanuakum highlighted the campaign’s focus on free checkups, immunization, anaemia and tuberculosis screening and consultations for women. The programme included a health camp and focused group discussions on menstrual hygiene, family planning, maternal and child health and breastfeeding. The administration pledged full support for successful implementation.
Zunheboto district: Zunheboto launched both the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan and Poshan Abhiyaan at District Hospital Zunheboto. Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj emphasized the central role of women in building healthy communities. Deputy CMO Dr. Antoly Suu announced 49 health camps offering screenings for anemia, NCDs, TB mental health and more. Social Welfare representatives introduced the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi initiative to enhance early childhood care through play-based learning and nutrition awareness.
Phek district: Phek district launched the campaign at Dr. Wethselo T. Mero Memorial Hall, DH Phek. Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori led the event alongside CMO and other dignitaries. The campaign will run across Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, CHCs and the District Hospital, focusing on screening for NCDs, TB, anaemia, ANC services, immunization and community engagement.
Mokokchung district: Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma inaugurated the campaign at IMDH Mokokchung. He praised the Health and Social Welfare Departments for their efforts and emphasized the campaign’s role in reshaping the health system and reaching remote areas. The event marked a collaborative push to deliver essential services across the district.
Peren district: District Hospital Peren hosted the launch with ADC D. Robin encouraging women to embrace healthy lifestyles and utilize government schemes. DPO Dr. Viholi and other specialists conducted sessions on NCDs, TB, immunization, HIV prevention and voluntary blood donation. Free health services were provided to 45 patients, including lab tests, eye screenings, gynecology, ENT, AYUSH, X-ray, and dental procedures. Pamphlets and leaflets were distributed to raise awareness.
The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan marks a significant step toward improving health indicators across Nagaland. Through district-level launches, health camps and educational outreach, the campaign aims to empower women, strengthen families, and build healthier communities statewide.
