The Liangmai Baptist Association, celebrated 100 years of Christianity in the Liangmai area on November 12 and 13, at the Public Ground, Tening Town, under the theme “Christ, the Lord of Ages” with Nagaland Baptist Church Council, general secretary, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, as the resource person.
In a press release by DIPR, Rev. Dr. Pongener reflected on the theme “Christ, the Lord of Ages,” emphasizing that Jesus Christ is the supreme authority over all history and creation. He described Christ as the eternal and unchanging foundation of strength and refuge.
Dr. Pongener further highlighted that Christ, as the Lord of Ages, is steadfast, dependable, and the source of salvation for those who trust in Him. He underlined that the phrase “Lord of Ages” signifies God’s supreme and eternal authority throughout history, adding that Christ’s unchanging nature “the same yesterday, today, and forever” offers believers a secure place of refuge.
Earlier, on the evening of November 12, pastor, Town Baptist Church, Tening, Rev. Kamwang Rentta, administered and hoisted the Centenary Jubilee flag. Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church, D. Block, pastor, Rev. N. Silubo Zeliang, inaugurated the Centenary Jubilee Hall and offered a dedicatory prayer.
The welcome address was delivered by executive secretary and chairman of the Planning Committee, Rev. Wichampau Nchang, executive secretary of the Liangmai Naga Baptist Association, Manipur (LNBAM), Rev. Dr. Alungbou Newmai, offered another dedicatory prayer and released the Centenary Jubilee Souvenir.
The celebration also featured choir performances from various churches, who glorified God through songs. After the formal programme, Dr. Rampaukupoing Michui, executive secretary of the Zeme Baptist Church Council (ZBCC), de-hoisted the Centenary Jubilee flag, bringing the Centenary Jubilee celebration to a successful conclusion.
