Nagaland: Longleng DPDB meeting cum advent Christmas at Yongnyah

Longleng District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting-cum-Advent Christmas celebration was held on December 12 at Yungmon River, Yongnyah, under the chairmanship of DPDB chairman, A. Pongshi Phom.
The meeting began with the introduction of new members. After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the house discussed the construction of an approach road near the 132 kV sub-station at Pongo village, forwarded by the MLA of 50 AC. Deputy commissioner and vice chairman, DPDB Longleng, W. Manpai Phom, informed that a detailed DPR had been submitted in consultation with the Power department, and the house agreed to forward the matter to higher authority.
The Advent Christmas programme commenced with an invocation by pastor Pongkap of Yongnyah Town Baptist Church, followed by the hymn “Joy to the World”. In his welcome address, DC W. Manpai Phom expressed gratitude to members and acknowledged the support of Yongnyah village council. He said organising the programme at different locations provided relaxation and an opportunity to welcome the joy of Christmas. He added that the district was blessed with the leadership of two elected members and appealed to officers to strengthen cooperation for the upliftment of the district.
A. Pongshi Phom, in his greetings, conveyed Advent Christmas on behalf of his family and the government of Nagaland. He said the meeting was a time to reflect on God’s guidance and blessings over the past eleven months. He thanked HoDs, office staff led by the DC, SP, civil society organisations and the public for their cooperation and dedication. He also informed that Orangkong Baptist Church would celebrate its 75th Platinum Jubilee from December 26 to 28, and requested members to uphold the programme in prayer.
ADC Tamlu, Lankonsen Tsanglao, in his greetings, said Christ came into the world not to adjust to it but to challenge what was wrong. He added that individuals and society should question the government when it fails to function, noting that only a few have the courage to challenge the system.
The Christmas message was shared by the pastor of Tamlu Town Baptist Church, while District Hospital Longleng presented a special song.
