Nagaland: Losami Students’ Union holds 64th general session

DIMAPUR

Losami Students’ Union (LSU) held its 64th general session-cum-37th freshers’ social from December 18 to 19 at GMS Losa Basa playground, Losami village, Phek, under the theme “Alchemy: Leveraging the potentialities.”
Gracing the inaugural session as guest, Veyielo Doulo, director, Department of Tourism, encouraged students to support one another instead of pulling each other down. He urged them to embrace an environment of love and avoid hatred for collective growth and peaceful coexistence. Touching on the session theme, Doulo called upon LSU to adopt a comprehensive strategy to thrive in a competitive world, and advised students to strive for excellence while they are energetic. He also appealed to parents to continue supporting their children in acquiring quality education.
As honoured guest, Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) president Mteisuding Heraang stressed that equality in education leads to equality in society. He said quality education is fundamental for a progressive society and economic prosperity, urging village councils to take cognisance of the functioning of schools, particularly government institutions.
During the introductory session, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Vezuhü Keyho urged students to avoid dependency and strive for excellence. He emphasized that cultural heritage encompasses not only folk dance and song but also moral values in daily life. Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) president Zhonelü Tunyi cautioned students against excessive use of mobile phones and advised them to prioritize studies and personal growth.
Greetings were shared by Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) president Pfülo Sarah and Losami Village Council chairman Zechete Mekrisuh, while solidarity message was extended by Middle Khomi Students’ Union president Bino Tenenu.
The valedictory session was graced by Wetsote K Swuro, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Meluri. Earlier, LSU president Webeko Akami delivered the presidential address, while former LSU president Wehiwu Mekrisuh led the inaugural session and LSU general secretary Emikewe K Tara presented the union report.
The two-day programme also featured academic excellence awards and a vibrant cultural session, celebrating both scholastic achievements and traditional heritage.
