Nagaland: MAA training held at Phek

A two-day, district level training on Mother’s Absolute Affection (MAA) was conducted at CMO conference hall, Phek from September25 and 25. The training was attended by GNM/ANM/CHO with Dr.Rukuwe Thele Pediatrician MO PHC Chizami as the resource person.


The main objectives of the training was to train the Health Care Providers to enhanced their skill so that they can provide quality counselling services, impart the right information on the advantages of breastfeeding and breastmilk to the mothers.


The trainees were oriented on Antenatal preparation for breastfeeding, dangers of prelacteal feeds, advantages of demand feeding, giving practical help to mothers, etc.
Resource person also emphasized on the causes of refusal to breastfeed, reasons why babies cry, overview of infant feeding and HIV, breastmilk feeding options for HIV positive mothers etc.


On the first day Dr.Chitale Hiese Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Phek highlighted a short briefing on the importance of the training while Sede Rupreo DPM NHM chaired the program.
