Mokokchung District Veteran Football Association (MDVFA) emerged as the champions of the 13th Nagaland Inter-District Veteran Football Tournament, organised by the Nagaland Veteran Football Association (NVFA) under the theme “Kick in Football, Kick out ism.”
The final match, played on Friday at Old Showuba local ground, saw MDVFA edge past defending champions Kohima District Veteran Football Association (KDVFA) by a narrow 1–0 margin to clinch the title.
With the victory, MDVFA pocketed the first prize of Rs. 70,000, while runners-up KDVFA received Rs. 45,000, along with citation, medals and trophy.
Wokha District Veteran Football Association secured third place and won Rs. 25,000, while Zunheboto District Veteran Football Association finished fourth, earning Rs. 20,000.
Delivering the closing remarks, NVFA president Anthony Ngullie expressed happiness over the successful completion of the tournament, and thanked all participating teams, host district and local villagers for their cooperation and also acknowledged the sponsors for their support in making the event a success.
A total of 10 districts teams participated in the tournament, which included Chümoukedima District Veteran Football Association (CDVFA), Dimapur District Veteran Football Association (DDVFA), Kohima District Veteran Football Association (KDVFA), Peren District Veteran Football Association, Mokokchung District Veteran Football Association (MDVFA), Mon District Veteran Football Association, Phek District Veteran Football Association, Niuland District Veteran Football Association, Wokha District Veteran Football Association, and Zunheboto District Veteran Football Association.
The league matches were played across two grounds, with each match scheduled for 60 minutes.
