MGM College, Dimapur, celebrated its Annual Sports Week from February 10 to 13 with vibrant participation and an inspiring display of sporting excellence by students and staff. The four-day event highlighted teamwork, discipline, physical fitness and the spirit of healthy competition.
The Sports Week began on February 10 with indoor games at the college campus. The formal inaugural ceremony was held on February 11 at DDSC Stadium, where Fr. Giju George officially declared the event open. In his address, he encouraged students to embrace sports as a means of fostering fair play and camaraderie.
From February 11 to 13, a wide range of outdoor events were conducted, including track and field competitions such as 100m and 200m races, relay races, long jump, high jump and shot put. Team events like tug of war, volleyball and football added to the excitement. Students displayed remarkable energy, resilience and sportsmanship, while House Captains, Sports Committee members and volunteers ensured smooth coordination. The enthusiastic cheering from the audience created a festive atmosphere throughout the week.
The closing ceremony on February 13 featured prize distribution, with winners of individual and team events receiving medals and certificates. Red House emerged as the Overall Team Champion, securing the championship trophy for their consistent performance. In his closing remarks, Temjen Longkumer congratulated all participants and emphasized the role of sports in building character, leadership and perseverance. The event concluded with a prayer led by the administrator.
