MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, celebrated its 39th Annual Day on Saturday, under the theme “Spectrum of Dreams”, with Editor-in-Chief, Nagaland Post, Geoffrey Yaden, gracing the occasion as the chief guest.
In his speech, Geoffrey Yaden , praised MGM School for its impressive growth while addressing the gathering at the school event. He recalled his long association with the institution since 1985 and noted that the school has steadily risen to become one of Nagaland’s leading educational centres.
Yaden commended the school for adopting new approaches that support the transformation of students. He pointed out that education has moved beyond a purely textbook-based model to one that includes extracurricular engagement and holistic development. This shift, he said, has strengthened students across intellectual, emotional, social, physical and spiritual spheres, making schools crucial training grounds for preparing young people for future challenges.
Commenting on the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence, Yaden said that while technology is reshaping the world, schools continue to play an essential role in shaping individuals with character and purpose. He urged students to view challenges as opportunities for growth and reminded them that failure often serves as a powerful teacher that encourages self-reflection. He stressed the importance of having a clear vision in personal, academic and spiritual life to ensure direction and meaningful progress.
Yaden also encouraged teachers to guide students not only academically but also morally and ethically. He called on parents to work closely with the school, noting that their collaboration is vital in augmenting development of the school.
In his welcome address, MGM Higher Secondary School principal Reji Abraham reflected on the evolving landscape of education and traced the school’s growth since its establishment four decades ago.
He also recalled his connection with Nagaland Post nearly 30 years earlier during his tenure in Kiphire, acknowledging the newspaper’s influence and its long-standing contribution to the state.
Abraham paid warm tribute to Geoffrey Yaden, founder-editor of Nagaland Post, praising his longstanding commitment to building and sustaining the publication through years of dedicated effort.
Speaking on the occasion, MGM School vice president Fr. Giju George noted the increasing global attention on Artificial Intelligence and announced that the school has chosen to adopt and integrate this emerging technology into its educational approach.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Inatoli H Assumi and Bhakmai Konyak, Bible reading and invocation offered by Iluiheile.
